Autumn Adventures - Apples and Ankeny

The Fall season has been busy - full of walks, adventures, crafts, fun and of course, learning!

A typical day in the Rainbow School classroom:

Misfit Kitty is very fond of school.

We make sure to get plenty of "outdoor school" time too...

Ankeny Wildlife Refuge walks and scavenger hunts:

Learning about birds, Fall migration, nature, swallow nests and protecting wildlife.

We started off our Autumn Adventures with a week of apple activities in September - including a field trip to the sweet Fordyce Farms to pick fresh apples and play on the haystacks.  And, our COVID-19 Best Pod-Buddy, Piper, came too!  In other words, the parents picked while the kids ran wild and free and ate apples.

After we got our apples home, the cleaning, polishing, baking, investigating and painting projects began in full force!  Brant is especially fond of yellow apples.  We weighed, floated, measured and explored our 5 senses.
